On April 4, 2006, the citizens of Vandalia voted to approve the extension of a sales tax for the construction of a $1.5 million swimming pool.  Groundbreaking for the new facility was held December 4, 2006, and the Vandalia Family Aquatic Center opened on June 26, 2007.

The facility includes zero depth entry, shallow end play area, therapy bench, drop slide, one meter diving stand, three meter diving stand, family restroom, concession area, lockers, outside pavilion, two shaded areas, and plenty of deck seating.

The Aquatic Center is located in Tri-County Park.  The park offers plenty of opportunities for family reunions, birthday parties, class reunions, or weekend picnics.  The park has two shaded pavilions, a paved walking trail, tennis court, playground equipment and NEW frisbee golf course. In the fall of 2023, an All-Inclusive Park will be erected with the help of a donation from the Audrain County Handicapped Services.
