This land was deeded to the city in 1973 by Glovie Partee Gray and Wm E Partee to be utilized as a park in memory of their parents, Rev. Partee, donors father, served as a pastor of the 1st Baptist Church in Vandalia. All of the improvements in this park were made by the city, the shelter, restrooms, play equipment, park lots and sidewalks were all installed soon after the establishment of the park. Trees were set out by the city in the early 1980s.
