 Garbage Disposal: The City of Vandalia currently contracts trash pickup through Dayne's Waste Disposal of Laddonia, MO.  If you live North of the railroad tracks your trash will be picked up early Tuesday morning and South of the railroad tracks your trash will be picked up early Friday morning.  If the collection day falls on Thanksgiving,  Christmas or New Year's Day pick up will be the following day.  

 Curbside Recycling Program:
Recycling is picked up by Dayne’s Disposal 1 time a month, on the last Monday of the month.   

Recycling should be at curbside-either in a CLEAR bag (available for purchase at City Hall) or in a trash can marked with ORANGE—clearly indicating that it is used for recycling. Free orange stickers are available at City Hall, or fluorescent orange spray can be used for recycling.

Electricity: City of Vandalia - Currently the city purchases most of it's electric power through Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC). Transmission services are supplied through Central Electric Power Coop (CEPC) of Jefferson City, Missouri.  During peak periods, the city utilizes eight diesel units to generate power from it's own electric generating plant. The City's Industrial Park is supplied with electricity through Ralls County Electric Coop under a territorial agreement.

Transportation
Rail: Kansas City Southern makes 1 regular stop per day and will stop on demand.  Visit their website at www.kcsi.com.

Air: The Vandalia Air Park, with a 2,600 foot grass runway, is located just one mile east of town. Mexico Memorial Airport, 27 miles southwest of city, longest runway is 5,500 feet, paved, lighted; private craft storage, maintenance and fuel available. Baldwin Field, Quincy, IL, 69 miles northeast of city, commercial air transportation and freight service available.

Barge: Mississippi River barge service 27 miles east of city; public and private docks available.

Motor Carrier: Butler Trucking is a motor freight carrier to Vandalia.  Package delivery service is available.  One U.S. highway and one Missouri highway serve the city.  Distance on approach to nearest 4-lane highway-17 miles; to nearest interstate exchange-approx. 45 miles.
