Historical information that is not available from the City Clerk's Office can be obtained from the Vandalia Area Historical Society.

In the case of life-threatening emergency, Audrain County Central Dispatch may send a fire truck along with an ambulance unit to provide extra assistance.

Normally, citizens are allowed to burn small piles of leaves or small limbs on their property as long as there is supervision and the fire is contained to their property.

Residential trash is picked up once a week. Residents who reside north of the railroad tracks will have their trash picked up early Tuesday morning. Residents who reside south of the railroad tracks will have their trash picked up early Friday morning.
